Around 50 attendees among EU and local stakeholders for the ISTEN final event, which featured a dynamic discussion among representatives from 8 cooperation projects committed towards tackling the most pressing issues linked to inadequate coordination in the intermodal transport and logistics chains.
The roundtable, moderated by Giuseppe Luppino as Chair of the European Network of Logistics Competence Centres – Open ENLoCC closed with Lodovico Gherardi from the Interreg ADRION Managing Authority and Giuseppe Di Paola from DG REGIO expressing their satisfaction in getting hands-on knowledge on the challenges and solutions experienced by sectoral organisations as well as on the potential synergies among different initiatives focusing on various macro-regions at EU level.
The event continued with presentation on main ISTEN achievements in improving the planning and implementation of actions designed to close the existing gaps in key transport corridors crossing the ADRION region.
During the final conference, chaired by Domenico Gattuso of Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria, interesting insights on the role of Macro-Regional Strategies such as EUSAIR and future funding opportunities aimed at making intermodal transport more and more competitive, innovative and sustainable were given by key speakers Pierluigi Coppola – EUSAIR Coordinator for the Transport Pillar and Giuseppe Di Paola, EUSAIR Coordinator within the European Commission.
